Burgess Short Story Prize Giving Ceremony 2017

St. John’s is delighted that two of our pupils were awarded prizes at the Burgess Short Story Prize Giving Ceremony in the City Chambers last night.  The competition, held annually by the City Burgess Charity, invites S3 pupils across Dundee to write and submit original short stories.  This year’s theme was Superheroes – Real or Imagined.  The judges commended the high standard of entries.  The assembled guests and dignitaries listened to Jessica Mannion read her wonderful story about women’s rights and the Suffrage Movement which was awarded Second Prize overall.  Lena Macaulay was awarded one of three prizes nominated for “Worthy Mention”.  Well done to both girls, maintaining the tradition of St. John’s success in this competition – we were the first winners four years ago.
