Children’s Hearings Learning and Development event at Dundee College. June 2017

On the 10th of June Gabi, Clodagh and Jay (All S4) gave a presentation at the Children’s Hearings Learning and Development event at Dundee College. The pupils had workshopped four pieces of Drama exploring the reasons why a young person might not want to attend a panel hearing. Their performances were very well received, and gave delegates much to discuss.

Children's Hearing Training January 2017

On the 21st of January we once again took part in a training exercise for the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration. This year Jay and Maia supported by Shaeleigh (all S3) attended. Jay took the role of Emma Devlin, who was the subject of the panel hearing, and Maia was her elder sister, Nicola. Mr Lennon was Emma’s guidance teacher. The pupils performed really well, and were applauded by an audience of around forty trainees. Well done both of you!

"Sanctuary" November 2016

On the 23rd and 24th of November 2016 Glasgow Film Theatre’s Creative Learning department, comprising leader Annie McCourt and actors Katrina and Adam, brought their Dramatic Enquiry “Sanctuary” to St. John’s. The enquiry focussed on the plight of the Dragons, who were being supressed by the Sorcerers. The pupils were members of a council (Goodworld) and had to debate and make difficult moral and ethical decisions. This was an allegorical exercise to examine the plight of refugees and economic migrants. The experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all who attended, and we hope to welcome GFT back next year with an enquiry on fair trade.
