Scholastic Book Fair 2018


The Scholastic Book Fair will run in the Library from Wednesday 27th November - Monday 2nd December

There are over 200 titles to choose from, and with prices starting from only £2.99, there’s sure to be a book for everyone! There will be books for teens, younger children, stationery and posters

We Are Writers 2017

Copies of We Are Writers 2017 can be ordered at the Book Fair which arrives on the 22nd November. A letter will be sent home on Monday 13th November with order details. Payments can now be made via ParentPay.

Ravensclaw Winners

On Tuesday 7th February we celebrated Harry Potter Book Night. The quiz tested the pupils' knowledge  of all the Harry Potter books. It was a hard fought battle but Ravensclaw came out top. Well done and thank you to everyone who took part.


Book Club Burns Quiz January 2017

The Book Club held a Burns Quiz last night. Well done to the winners, Ruth and Valerie.

We Are Writers 2016

We have produced our very own book of writing. Pupils from S1-S6 have had excellent pieces of writing published in St John's very own book, We Are Writers!

"This book is a fantastic opportunity to showcase not just the high quality writing that is produced across the school but also the incredible range of writing tht is produced...This is a collection that really celebrates the rich range of activities that take place right across the school from Art to R.E. from S1-S6. I'm sure you will find something contained within the covers of our first edition to engage and entertain you." Mrs McLagan, Head Teacher


Roald Dahl Day September 2016

The Library held a quiz to celebrate Roald Dahl Day and what would have been Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday. The winning team was Wallis, Jennifer and Nicole. Each team member won a Roald Dahl book of their choice. Their knowledge of Roald Dahl and his books was tremendous. Well done.


Edinburgh Book Festival August 2016

A group of pupils from S4-S6 travelled down to the Edinburgh Book Festival in August 2016.

This year we attended two sessions involving 3 authors, Lisa Heathfield, Katherine How and Anne Cassidy.

Once again the sun shone on Charlotte Square Gardens in Edinburgh

Edinburgh International Book Festival

Author Events include Lisa Heathfield, Katherine Howe and Anne Cassidy.

Bus leaves at 8am and should return by 4pm.
